Jessica started her career at McVeagh Fleming in 2020 as a research clerk while completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland. Upon admission to the Bar, Jessica has focused on two main areas of the law, Family and Minor Criminal and Traffic matters. Within specialising in Family Law, Jessica can assist in matters relating to care of children and guardianship disputes, family violence, and relationship property (both separation agreements and contracting out agreements for the protection of assets). In respect of Criminal and Traffic matters, Jessica provides advice and assistance at all ends of the spectrum, from making a statement to the Police to sentencing outcomes. Jessica also has experience in applications made under section 106 of the Sentencing Act 2002 for Discharge without Conviction, along with drafting and filing applications for Limited Licences. Having experience in both Family Law and Criminal Defence, Jessica can advise clients who have proceedings in both jurisdictions.
Jessica regularly appears in the Family and District Court and works with clients to resolve matters without the need for litigation. However, if litigation is required, Jessica has the appropriate skills to represent clients in Court. Jessica respects that clients are experiencing one of the mot stressful and challenging times in their lives, and she is committed to guiding clients through the legal process in a pragmatic and transparent way so the best possible outcome can be achieved.
Jessica is a legal aid supervised provider in both family and legal aid matters.
