Karlene graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2013 and after spending a couple of years living in France, returned to be admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2015. Prior to joining McVeagh Fleming in 2018, she worked in a property focused law firm, specializing in disputes within property, construction and commercial law. Karlene's understanding of the French language enables her to assist French-speaking clients with their legal needs.

Karlene is a member of the Litigation Team at the Auckland Central Office and works with Partners, Craig Andrews and John Burley, on a range of civil and commercial matters in the District Court and High Court.

Karlene has served on the executive committee of the Auckland Women Lawyers' Association since 2019 and was appointed Treasurer in 2021.

Outside interests

Outside of the office, Karlene loves getting to the beach, hiking, swimming and competing in surf lifesaving sports – particularly surf boat rowing.
