Geoff Baxter Retiring from Practice

Our former partner and consultant, Geoff Baxter, is retiring from McVeagh Fleming on 31 March 2023 after an impressive 46-year career with the firm. Looking back on Geoff's career, he started at McVeagh Fleming fresh as a law graduate in 1977 and became a partner in a very short period of time. In 2014, he transitioned into a consultant role, where he has continued to provide invaluable legal counsel to a wide range of clients in the areas of trust law, corporate and commercial law, and more.

Over the years, Geoff has been an essential advisor to countless directors, shareholders, and businesses, helping them navigate mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, contract preparations, franchising and general business advice. He has assisted in negotiations on many significant transactions involving major clients which has brought much success to the firm.

Geoff is a bit of a sports fanatic and has represented multiple athletes and sportspeople throughout his career. He's even run the New York Marathon and participated in the Coast to Coast! When he's not being a legal rockstar or athlete, you can find him honing his golf or tennis game which he loves doing the most.

As he moves into a new chapter in his life and decides the next great things he will do, we bid farewell to Geoff's loyal service and commitment to the field of law and to McVeagh Fleming and wish him and his family all the best in retirement.
